Using our Website

With regard to each of your visits to our website we may automatically collect technical information, including the Internet Protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the internet, your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform; information about your visit, including the full Uniform Rescue Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time); products you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page and any phone number used to call our customer service number. The information we collect and store during normal use of this site is used to monitor and analyse how parts of the site are used. Such does not result in any personally identifiable data being collected or stored.

When paying for a Parking Charge

The data processed whilst you make payment of a Parking Charge may include a VRM, a parking charge reference, email address, card number, expiry date and security code. The parking charge reference will be used for the purpose of locating the relevant parking charge and populate the payment screen with the outstanding amount payable.

Personal data may be processed on the grounds of legitimate interests to allow payments to be made and may also be processed due to it being necessary for us to process the same under a contract between you and Parking Fines UK LTD. All payment data collected via our website is transferred to the payment processor in an encrypted file.

When making an appeal

The data processed whilst you submit an appeal of a Parking Charge may include a full name, email address, phone number, a parking charge reference, VRM, details of your appeal, files attached to the appeal and agreement to the appeals process and this privacy policy.

If you decide to appeal a parking charge and we reject your appeal, then we will provide your registration number and parking charge number along with the time and date of the parking event to the Independent Appeals Service (IAS) and/or the International Parking Committee (IPC). This is to allow you to contest the charge with an independent adjudicator.

If you correspond with us by post, we may use a third party to scan and categorise the mail and place it onto our systems, to return your documents and to bank payments.

Personal data will be processed on the grounds of legitimate interests to make a decision on your appeal.

When transferring liability

The data processed whilst you notify us that you were not the driver of the vehicle may include a full name, correspondence address, email address, phone number, a parking charge reference, VRM, the capacity of the liable person (e.g. keeper, driver, hirer, other), and any other information you provide within any correspondence, phone call or appeal, including any documentation you share with us.

We use this data to update our records and pursue the liable motorist for an unpaid parking charge.

If you correspond with us by post, we may use a third party to scan and categorise the mail and place it onto our systems, to return your documents and to bank payments.

When using our Car Parks

When you use a Parking Fines UK car park, we collect and process data comprising of images of vehicles and occupants/bystanders using the car park and the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM). Images of vehicles, occupants/bystanders and VRMs are collected via ANPR cameras and/or attendants on-site. Where in operation VRM data may also be collected and processed via the payment and/or terminals systems.

If the parking terms and conditions are breached a Parking Charge Notice will be issued to the registered keeper of the driver. If you have received a Parking Charge Notice and you are the registered keeper of the vehicle, as held by the relevant vehicle licensing agency, then your data has been provided by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or international equivalent.

We may use this data for the purpose of pursuing a motorist for an unpaid parking charge or tariff, ensuring safety and security of the car park and helping to deter/detect criminal activity within the car park and surrounding area.

How long we hold your data

There are certain reasons why we keep hold of some of your data. How long we keep your data for depends upon the type of data we hold and the purpose(s) for which it was collected and processed. We will store your personal data for no longer than necessary to support the purposes explained above.

We retain the personal data we hold about you for up to 6 years from collection in order to respond to any concerns or claims that may arise in that time. This may be extended if related correspondence or claims are on-going, or where a county court judgment has been issued and remains outstanding.
